What is Grapefruit Soup? Simply… the heart of the grapefruit! Let's think about Heart Matters since it is February.
Sometimes, grapefruits are extremely sour, and sometimes they are sweet. You cannot know for sure until you cut it open and taste it. I was prepared to add a sprinkle of sugar, but there was no need because it was sweet. Only the Lord knows the inside contents of a grapefruit, and only the Lord knows the inside contents of our hearts.
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" – Jeremiah 17:9
When life "cuts us open" so-to-speak, that is when our sweetness or bitterness comes out. The issues of life reveal our weaknesses and strengths. In order to be a sweet savour to the LORD, we must guard our hearts. We must actively nourish and feed and protect our hearts just as one grows a garden. We cannot expect to be a sweet life if we are not tending our hearts consistently. Feed on the Words of God. Set boundaries which keep out possible robbers and which keep your heart from trespassing where it does not belong. Remember God's goodness in your life.
"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." – Psalm 34:8
"Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;" -Deuteronomy 4:9
"How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" – Psalm 119:103
Are you keeping your heart?
